Basic Apps ("we", "us", "our") operates the following iOS applications: Basic Checkbook, Basic Intake, and Drift (collectively, the "Apps"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information across all three Apps.
By using any of our Apps, you agree to the practices described in this policy. If you do not agree, please discontinue use of our Apps.
2. Information We Collect
Information You Provide
- Financial data Checkbook — Account names, balances, and transactions stored locally via SwiftData. This data is never transmitted to our servers.
- Account name and display name Checkbook — Collected via Sign In with Apple and stored locally only.
- Supplement data Intake — Names, dosages, timing, and notes stored locally and optionally synced to iCloud via CloudKit. Never transmitted to our servers.
- Health profile Intake — General health information (age, sex, goals, exercise, diet, sleep, conditions) used solely for personalized AI suggestions. Stored locally on your device.
- AI assistant messages Intake — Messages sent to Anthropic's Claude API for processing. We do not store these messages on our servers. See Anthropic's Privacy Policy.
- Mood selections Drift — Stored locally only. Never transmitted to any server.
- Session history Drift — Experience type, duration, and completion status stored locally via SwiftData.
- Feedback submissions Checkbook Intake — Category and message content only. No personal, health, or financial data is included in feedback submissions.
Information Collected Automatically
- Subscription status — Apple processes all purchases via the App Store. We receive a receipt confirming subscription status only. We never receive or store your payment card information.
- App usage counts Intake — AI interaction counts stored locally during trial and subscription periods. This data never leaves your device.
Device Permissions
- Face ID / Touch ID Checkbook — Used for app unlock only. Biometric data is handled entirely by Apple and is never accessed by us.
- Camera / Photo Library Checkbook — Optional, for setting a bank account logo. Images are stored locally only.
- Notifications Intake — Used for local supplement reminder notifications. Processed entirely on-device.
- Haptics Drift — Tactile feedback during sessions. No data is collected.
- Audio Drift — Soundscape playback during sessions. On-device only, no recording occurs.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect solely to:
- Provide and operate each App's core features
- Generate AI-powered supplement suggestions via the Claude API Intake
- Verify subscription status through Apple's App Store
- Send local reminder notifications Intake
- Track daily session counts Drift
- Respond to user feedback and improve our Apps
We Do NOT:
- Sell your personal information to any third party
- Share your financial, health, mood, or session data with third parties (except Anthropic's Claude API for Basic Intake AI messages)
- Use your data for advertising or marketing purposes
- Track you across apps or websites

AI-powered suggestions are generated by Anthropic's Claude and are for general informational purposes only. Drift is a wellness and relaxation tool. It is not a medical device, mental health treatment, or substitute for professional care. Drift does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. If you are experiencing a mental health crisis, please contact emergency services or a licensed mental health professional.
5. Data Storage and Security
All personal data is stored locally on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework. We do not operate servers that store your personal data. Data at rest is protected by your device's hardware encryption.
- iCloud sync Checkbook Intake — Premium and Pro users may enable cloud sync via Apple CloudKit. Synced data is stored in your personal iCloud account and governed by Apple's Privacy Policy. We cannot access your iCloud data.
- AI messages Intake — Transmitted securely via HTTPS to Anthropic's Claude API. We do not log or retain these messages on any server we operate.
- Soundscape content Drift — Streamed from a Basic Apps-managed CloudKit database. These are public assets only; no personal data is associated with playback.
6. Third-Party Services
- Sign In with Apple Checkbook — Apple's Privacy Policy applies.
- Apple App Store / StoreKit — Subscription payment processing. Apple's Privacy Policy applies.
- iCloud / CloudKit Checkbook Intake Drift — Apple's Privacy Policy applies.
- Anthropic Claude API Intake — AI assistant processing. Anthropic's Privacy Policy applies.
- Formspree Checkbook Intake — Feedback form delivery service. No personal, health, or financial data is transmitted via Formspree. Formspree's Privacy Policy applies.
We do not integrate any third-party analytics, advertising, or crash reporting services.
7. Children's Privacy
Our Apps are not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can take appropriate action.
8. Your Rights and Choices
- Access — View all your data within each App at any time. Premium Checkbook users can export financial data to CSV.
- Deletion — Deleting an App permanently removes all locally stored data. For iCloud data, go to Settings → [Your Name] → iCloud → Manage Account Storage.
- Notifications — Disable reminders in the App's settings or via iPhone Settings → Notifications.
- Subscriptions — Manage or cancel subscriptions via iPhone Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be indicated by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Your continued use of our Apps after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.
