Basic Apps
Updates
Last updated: May 23, 2026
Here's what we've been working on and what's coming next for each app. We ship updates regularly, check back often.
Basic Checkbook v5.6
Download Current VersionWhat's New
- Change Passcode: head to Settings → Security to update your
- passcode without having to reset the app.
- Smarter Boot Recovery: if Basic Checkbook ever has trouble
- opening your data, you'll see a clear screen with options
- instead of an automatic wipe. Your data stays put while you
- decide what to do.
- 30-Day Backup Reminder: a quiet card on the Accounts screen
- nudges you to back up your data once a month. One tap and you
- can save a backup straight from the banner.
- Safer Backup Restore: restoring from a backup file is now
- atomic. If anything goes wrong mid-restore, your existing data
- is fully preserved instead of half-replaced.
- Calendar Fix: scheduled bills set for the 31st now correctly
- land on the last day of short months (Feb 28, Apr 30, etc.)
- instead of slipping into the following month.
- Plus dozens of under-the-hood polish items, faster sheet
- transitions, and the foundation for a more robust app going
- forward.
Coming Soon
- Siri Shortcuts
- Shared Accounts
- CSV Import Improvements
- Map CSV columns manually when auto-detection fails
Ink. v2.7
Download Current VersionWhat's New
- We did some polishing and enhancing:
- ⌘Z and the toolbar Undo button now restore deleted to-dos and subtasks on Mac, including the text you'd already backspaced
- away before the row was removed.
- Arrow keys walk between to-dos and their subtasks on Mac. Up and down move row-to-row through the list, headers included.
- Smarter Enter: when your cursor is at the start of a to-do, hitting Return pushes that line down and leaves you an empty row to type
- above it. Mid-line Return splits the to-do in two.
- On iPhone, the "add a new to-do" field now wraps long text to a second line instead of disappearing off the right edge, and its
- type matches the rest of the list so the rhythm reads the same.
- Bug fixes, plus a few things we'll never speak of again.

Basic Intake v5.20
Download Current VersionWhat's New
- Basic Intake now has a fully realized Light Mode.
- Settings → Appearance gives you three choices: System, Light, or Dark. Pick what fits your moment.
- Light mode is built on the new Sunset design system. A warm paper background with a soft four-orb atmosphere (peach + plum + amber + coral) replaces the navy gradient. Cards are frosted white glass that float over the warmth. Time-of-day slots take on a new warmer palette, saffron mornings, sage afternoons, dusty-rose evenings, so the app feels distinctly different from the night-mode experience while keeping the same color-coded mental model.
- Every screen got the same treatment: the calendar, scanner result + label-update sheets, provider report flow, and all the sub-menus.
- Onboarding stays dark for new users, Appearance only becomes available once you're in the main tracker, so first impressions are always the brand-defining navy.
- Existing users default to Dark mode with no change. Switch when you're ready.
- Polished a few rough edges.

- New Interlude: Weather Passes
- A new acceptance-themed narration from Lyndsay. "What's heavy now will move through."
- A New App Icon (with the old one as a backup)
- Drift's app icon got a refresh. Prefer the original? Settings → Home Screen Icon lets you switch between the new Drift icon and Classic any time.
